    From Singapore to Doha

The last bit of April had been quite a rollercoaster ride for me. It all started in mid-March when I received a long awaited email from Qatar Airways. I WAS TO JOIN THE WORLD’S BEST AIRLINE!

Since my last flight with Jetstar on JQ7 from Melbourne to Singapore on the 7th (lol), everything had gone pretty much full steam ahead since.

My 10 days in Singapore before my big move to Doha was pretty much jam-packed with activities from settling required documents, to meeting friends and packing. I’ve even had a bunch of stickies right where I could see them because I have a short term memory and may forget what I have on that particular day. On top of that, both my parents were down with dengue fever; my dad’s condition was more critical than my mum, he got admitted and even needed a transfusion. Thank God that they’re both healthy now.

I was so blessed to have been able to meet up with my closest friends, both from school and outside during this time, and the biggest surprise had to be the little farewell gathering Ummar had planned for me without me knowing. All I knew I was spending a Saturday evening being spoiled (more than he normally does) by him. The next minute, he brought me into a place BLINDFOLDED and once he ripped it off, I saw almost everyone in our social circle I wanted to see in one place. Probably the sweetest thing he’s ever done for me. (If you’re reading this, Ummar. Buzz off.)

Those 10 days flew by like a dream and eventually it was time to say goodbye. I was leaving on my mum’s birthday, 20th April so managed to squeeze in a simple birthday dinner with honourary guests Nurul and Fad.

Again, I hadn’t expected friends to see me off as my flight departs at 2 in the morning, but I was very, very lucky to have such great, great friends. Thank you for seeing me off even when you guys had work the next day!

So I’ve left my home country and gonna be based in a foreign land for at least 2 years. My dreams were finally coming true, but first I must work doubly hard in order to reap the rewards at the end of 8 weeks of training. The thought of all the destinations I get to go to, while doing something I’ve been doing the past two years that I’m pretty good at and love, excites me. I’m grateful for all those back home who love me unconditionally and support me, and they’ll be those who’d plant my feet on the ground while I’m up in the clouds (literally).

Goodbye Singapore, I’ll see you again at the end of the year.

    Hello Qatar.
