Bite-sized blogging

As I am gearing up for the crazy Australian weather, I’ve been thinking of ways to ensure that I remain consistent in writing content for my blog. It’s gonna be especially hard for me because I’m leaving my laptop at home, only taking with me my trusty iPad and phone. How was I going to transfer and edit pictures in my iPad?! I can’t possibly leave my blog unattended, I’ll lose all my wonderful readers!

Had a chat with Janet, a lovely lady I met for the first time last week, and she suggested a brilliant plan. From one busy writer to another, she said that I should write bite-sized pieces instead of a full travelogue from time to time. A friend of hers posts at least twice a week, limiting herself to two pictures and a paragraph of words. Short, and sweet… but it works.

I’m definitely going to give it a go. And it helps having a to-do list to keep track on post ideas, meetings and your never-ending social life!

Snow Fairy gets a wand this Christmas!

If there was a Lush product that I could use for the rest of my life, it would definitely be the limited edition Snow Fairy shower gel… or any of its derivatives. Snow Fairy is only available during the Christmas season, so I tend to stock up to last me the rest of the year.
My big sister was the person who got me hooked to the cotton candy smelling gel. I was a little skeptical at first because it was not only pink.. but there’s GLITTER at the bottom of the bottle. But I fell in love with it after the first bath. I come out of the shower smelling sweet and cotton candy-like.
This year, Snow Fairy comes in a special bubble magic wand. It’s pink, star shaped and MARVELLOUS. Tried it in the bathtub and besides turning the water pink, it produced lots and lots of bubbles too! One of the greatest joys in life for me is to sit in a bathtub surrounded by bubbles, and the magic wand was a dream come true!
I am not sure if Lush SG stocks the Magic Wand, but the stores in Aussie do! It’s less than 10 bucks and I used it for three bubbly goodness baths, so it’s definitely worth your money. My roommate and I had so much fun playing with the wand.

The inner fangirl in me surfaces.

I would usually save this fangirling posts for Tumblr, but this time I just can’t help myself.
IT’S BRENNAN AND BOOTHS’S WEDDING DAY!

I’ve been a loyal follower of Bones since 2008, catching up on the 2+ years I’ve missed then waiting eagerly for new episodes to roll out each week. I was there for the breakups, hook ups, deaths (it happens every week, but the most devastating ones involve the characters we love e.g. Vincent Nigel-Murray) and the 9 years of sexual tension between the two lead characters, Dr. Temperance Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and Special Agent Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz)

Can’t wait for tonight’s episode! It’s what everyone who’s been a faithful follower to Bones have been waiting for after all the random hook ups, missed opportunities, and an unexpected pregnancy.

Impromptu trip to Grandma’s

It all started when I was sitting at the kitchen table having a chat with mum, just an hour after I got home from my 10-day Perth trip. I asked what she did during the week while I was gone, asked about other routine stuff… finally asked where was grandma at. I haven’t seen her in the longest time and didn’t get to spend BOTH Hari Raya festivals properly with my family.. hence I asked.

Then, it was decided. We were going to pack ourselves up and head off to Batam… barely 24 hours since I came back home. #YouOnlyLiveOnce

Going to Batam meant cheap food, cheap massages, cheap.. everything. It’s the most popular place for Singaporeans to head to for a day trip. Maybe not so much for shopping, but the food is awesome and real cheap. I love going there to pamper myself from time to time.

Mum booked a room at I Hotel, adjacent to Nagoya Hill, one of the most popular shopping malls there. That area is our favourite place to stay because it’s so convenient. Everything you need for a good stay in Batam is at Nagoya Hill. I’ve been wanting to stay there since forever, but it’s always fully booked. I could see why. The hotel and the shopping mall is separated by a lit walkway, three flights of stairs and a small road. Best location ever.

It had one of the BEST breakfast buffets I’ve ever been to! I am the lazy kind, definitely not a morning person. People would have to literally DRAG me out of bed to wake me up early in the morning. So it’s a rare thing when I decided I wanted to go for the buffet.. much to my parents’ surprise.

No regrets.

There was a huge spread of food, from continental to oriental. Personally LOVED the Japanese section where they served traditional Japanese gohan. Yes, and I mean TRADITIONAL. I almost freaked out of my pants when I saw a familiar white box containing natto. I’ve never seen natto being served in a non-Japanese hotel buffet breakfast before. Not even in the best breakfast buffet I’ve had at Le Meridien, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

Ate a little too much to make up for all the cold, refrigerated food I’ve been surviving on the past 10 days. Now time to work it all off!

Kangaroo hunting in Perth

Spent the past 10 days in Perth, Western Australia. Most of the days I worked, came in and out of the airport so many times I made new friends in the form of cute, drool-worthy immigration officers. Most of my non work-related waking hours was spent finding things to do around the resort. Unfortunately, we didn’t have a proper day off, so no trips to the city or Fremantle, seafood paradise. I managed to squeeze in ONE day in the city, bunking in at a colleague’s who was lucky enough to be placed in Mercure hotel.
Was caught off-guard by the weather too. Thinking it was approaching summer, the weather in Perth was going to be hot and humid like Darwin was last week. I WAS WRONG. It was FUH-REEZING, I don’t even… and I only packed a hoodie. Well done, Intan. Next trip would be longer, with more places to cover. I am taking my whole house with me.
10 days, 10 pictures!

1// Beautiful view from outside my room at The Vines, Novotel.
2// My attempts to eat healthy. Chicken tacos, lotsa greens and apple juice.
3// Derence, my partner in crime.
4// Bad ass rule breaking in Perth city
5// Changed rooms, new view of the tennis courts. One of those lazy stay-in evenings.
6// Pigging out on room service after a particularly trying day, with a good read on the side.
7// Went Kangaroo hunting. There were TONS of them on the resort grounds. Wild ones, and they usually mind their own business and run away when we get close. These two kangaroos were bitch-slapping each other. Nasty.
8// Tried playing chess but failing miserably, ended up knocking down all the pieces just for fun… then jump into the jacuzzi. We are horrible people.
9// Found a lone dandelion flower. Feeling whimsical. LAST DAY IN PERTH!
10// Home bound, cruising at 56,000 ft.
