Chanced across this article at Thought Catalog and loved how well it’s written. It isn’t condescending nor contradictory, probably written by one with experience. I found this quote especially relevant:
“I am a true believer that people will find their way back to each other. Let each other grow and become the people you both really want to be. If in the end you end up together maybe you really were meant to be all along but you will not work right now, and the more you mess with your relationship the more you will end up resenting one another.”
It made absolute sense to me. When you think it’s impossible to walk away from someone you love, you’d be surprised. All you need is some time. Though a part of you will always love him, in time it’ll hurt less and maybe someday you can look back and wonder, ‘Why the hell did I love him so much?’ …and then you laugh it off and carry on with life. An added bonus would be somewhere down the road, he would somehow find his way back to you, and this time…
It feels right.
