In the light of the $50 void deck Malay wedding jibes we’ve been getting from interesting creatures back then and now, let me share with you a tiny part of our Malay culture. Our weddings are the grandest, loudest and the most colourful with awesome food and best of all, the whole extended family being there. So much drama!
Weddings are much more fun when it’s your siblings or first cousins’. That’s when you and the whole extended family are directly involved. Together we’ve survived two of our first cousins’ wedding, with two other cousins’ weddings coming up later during the year and next year, MY BIG SISTER’S getting married! Ho. Ho. Ho. No.
From pre-wedding to post, here’s what I love most!
Pre-Wedding:

Everyone gets together and help out. Like, EVERYONE.
Wedding favours!
When the bride does henna night, we get to be busybodies and get some as well!
And of course, goofing around with the mother of the bride before the chaos begins.
Wedding Day:
The lovely decor.
People in pretty clothes!
Food. Duh.
The family chaos.
And pictures like this.
Post Wedding:

What goes on Behind-the-Scenes after a wedding? THIS!
Cutting and distributing of the wedding cake, sharing of the goodies… and ogling at the wedding presents.
Jealous? I would be. Can’t wait for the stream of weddings to be involved in… NOT MINE, not now… in a few years maybe. But now, I am just going to have fun getting involved in the chaos behind the scenes. Too awkward to sit in front of everyone in thick make up and smile for pictures the entire day. Maybe if I’m with Mr Just-My-Kind-Of-Right, I’d change my mind.
Till then!
