Resignation Letters and Resolutions

MONDAYmusings

My life had been all but a flurry of activities from mid February. After a lull period of six long months, there came an email to proceed with pre-employment medicals… and everything just went full steam ahead from there.

A month ago I was contemplating on a job change. Suddenly, what I’ve always wanted fell straight into my lap and now I am preparing to move to a brand new country for a long period of time.

There are just so many things to do in so little time. I wrote my very first resignation letter with the help of a template a good friend sent. My current job wasn’t my very first job, but I’ve always left something when the contract ends so there were no resignation letters needed. This time though, I’ve stayed longer than I had expected. No regrets, just fond memories. But I think it’s time for me to extend my wings and fly higher.

My closest friends have been nothing but extra attentive towards me. They find every opportunity to annoy the hell out of me because they’re not going to see me for at least six months… and I was going to be far away from them. I love them anyways.

For the past 2.5 years, leaving home had been much easier because of the prospect of coming home at most two weeks later. This time though, I’m feeling a little apprehensive. I won’t be Singapore-based anymore. I’ll be so far away from home, in a timezone five hours behind…. and not knowing anyone in the foreign land. But I am also excited.

Fingers crossed that my transition from one job to another will be smooth sailing… For now, time to go to work!
